We understand how cancer can affect people’s whole lives – health, money, family, job; everything. And, after more than 100 years of caring, we understand that the most important thing is to treat people as individuals, not patients.

So we take the time to understand the support people need to live their lives as fully as they can. From the moment of diagnosis and whenever we’re most needed, we’re here to help people find their best way through. Our help is totally focused on each individual person, so everyone receives the support that’s best for them.

£250 could pay for five people living with cancer to attend a health and wellbeing event, providing them with the skills to improve the management of these areas in their lives.

£335 could pay for a Macmillan grant that helps a family affected by cancer take a holiday and enjoy precious time together.

£546 could pay for a Macmillan Social Care Worker for a week, helping patients, family members and carers manage the social and practical problems of living with cancer.

Every £800 we spend on our phone service could lead to our welfare rights advisors on the Macmillan Support Line helping people living with cancer claim up to £31,480 in benefits they are entitled to.

£1023 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for a week, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.

Kimberley's story

At 22 weeks pregnant, Kimberley got the devastating news that she had throat cancer. 'It came as a complete shock. I felt completely well and my only symptom was a painless lump in my neck as though one of my glands was up'. It was a really traumatic time but Kimberley’s Macmillan nurse, Ian, was there every step of the way.

To say thank you to Macmillan, Kimberley hosted her very own Coffee Morning.

It was an emotional morning and I really felt like I was able to give something back to say thank you for the amazing support I had received during my illness.

The people you help
