Four easy steps to your workmate Coffee Morning

1. Convince the boss

Inspire the boss with your genius idea to get the team together over coffee and cake, all in the name of workplace bonding and a charitable cause. You can even ask them to set a baking challenge. Everyone likes a bit of friendly colleague cake off competition, right?

2. Get the team onboard

It shouldn’t be too hard to tempt your workmates with a nibble and a natter, but we’ve made it even simpler. Use our super easy e-invite and hang posters around the office. Whether they’re a budding Mary Berry or a delicious cupcake from M&S kind of colleague, it all counts on the day. Bring in the bakes and let your co-workers decide their fate.

3. Get inspired

Try this cake-off poster to get the competition started. Aside from the fabulous free kit you receive when you sign up, you can continue to get the team excited with our decorative downloads. Need some recipe inspiration? We’ve got it covered.

4. Bake and donate

Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is on Friday 29 September. Join hundreds of workplaces, schools, village halls and homes up and down the country get together for a nibble and a natter. Simply ask your workmates to make a donation for the coffee, cakes and bakes, and if you’re feeling competitive set a cake judging challenge. Not free on Friday 29 September? Don’t worry, you can host your Coffee Morning at anytime you like.

Plan well in advance and don't leave it to a select few to raise the money. Remember it's a team effort.

How your cake makes a difference

Not only can your Coffee Morning help bring the team together, but your donations can make a real difference.

Almost half of us will get cancer, and we give them the support they need to hold on to who they are and what's important. But we can't do it without you.

The money you raise at your Coffee Morning will help us to ensure that people with cancer can continue to live their life, their way.

By donating you could change lives with every slice by:

  • helping to fund Macmillan nurses;
  • providing information about cancer;
  • helping with financial support, like grants and advice;
  • helping to answer calls on the Macmillan Support Line.

Boost workplace morale

Happiness inspires productivity, and what better way to bring a bit of joy to the workplace than with a cuppa and a cake...or two?

Taking a break during your working day is so important. It may sound simple, but having a coffee and a catch up with your colleagues could really help boost workplace morale. And hosting a Coffee Morning is the perfect excuse to encourage just that.

You and your workmates can all get involved in the baking. It’s a chance to get creative, and everyone can take part in the tasting (yum!) Plus, the icing on the cake is the reward of giving something back, because you’re donating to a great cause. What a fantastic way to brighten your working day.

Handy tips

Add a twist - Set a theme for your Coffee Morning and introduce some fun games between your workmates.

Don't forget to donate - ask your colleagues to make a donation in exchange for a tasty treat. Hold a competition, a raffle or try our new Cake Bingo game to get everyone involved. You can pay in online, over the phone, by post or at the bank.

Fake it! Not a pro-baker? Not a problem, M&S will be selling a selection of cakes and biscuits with a percentage of sales paid to Macmillan, so even more reason to fake it.

The main thing for me is getting my colleagues involved and to enjoy their experience as well as to raise money.
