Burfi (Indian / Pakistani)

Ingredients

  • 150g gram flour (besan)
  • 225g butter
  • 100g sugar
  • 4 cardamom seeds
  • Nuts (optional)

How to prepare

  1. Melt butter in a pan.

  2. Turn down heat and add cardamom and gram flour.

  3. Fry, stirring constantly to prevent burning until it has changed to a brown colour and smells done. (Test: a few drops of water sprinkled on it sputters instantly).

  4. Turn off the heat and stir in the sugar. Spread 1/2″ thick onto a platter.

  5. Cut into diamond shapes after it has cooled down.
