I want to open my coffee morning to the public.

The first thing to do is post the details of your coffee morning| to our online map. You can download posters| and promotional materials to put up at your work, in shops or anywhere else.

It is also worth getting in touch with your local press to see if they will give you any coverage. If you need any help or guidance, contact our Fundraising Support Centre on 0300 1000 200.

Yes, you will receive a thank you letter from us within a few weeks of receiving your donation.

Do I have to hold my event on 28 September?

No, Friday 28 September is the official date of the World's Biggest Coffee Morning, but you are welcome to choose a date that is more convenient for you.

Do I have to pay my money in at specific banks?

We ask our supporters to pay their money into a branch of Royal Bank of Scotland, Natwest or Ulster Bank. Other banks may charge a processing fee and using them means that we won't be able to trace the payment to you and send you your well-deserved thank you.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid| is a Government scheme that enables charities to claim the tax that supporters have already paid on their donations. To allow us to claim this back you must be a UK taxpayer and have paid sufficient income and/or capital gains tax to cover the amount Macmillan will reclaim in each tax year.

This means that Macmillan is able to reclaim tax on voluntary donations made by your coffee morning guests once they have:

1. Made an individual donation.
2. Filled in all the spaces on your Gift Aid sheet (found in your World’s Biggest Coffee morning pack).
3. Ticked that very important Gift Aid box.

If the gift aid process is followed properly we can increase your guests’ donations by 25p for every £1 without costing them another penny!

* Gift Aid does not apply to non-UK tax payers, Isle of Man and Channel Islands residents.

I can't hold a coffee morning this year.

If you can't host a coffee morning yourself this year, you can still get involved!

Why not attend a public coffee morning in your local area or suggest the idea to your friends?

Macmillan really needs you to do your bit again. That’s because the number of people living with cancer in the UK is increasing. Every day in the UK, 822 people are told they have the illness, news that not only devastates their lives but also those of their family and friends.bgblockquoteend
